The Ford F-150 Lightning EV Is Officially Dead
"We actually ended production of the 2025 model-year Lightning just this month,"
"This was in response to a lot of the market realities and customer preferences."
"We have good inventories of the F-150 Lightning and will bring Rouge Electric Vehicle Center (REVC) back up at the right time, but don't have an exact date at this time,"
Ford ended production of the current-generation F-150 Lightning for the 2025 model year, citing market realities and customer preferences. Production had been paused earlier after a supplier fire limited F-150 output, and Ford prioritized restarting gas and hybrid truck production because those models are more profitable and popular. The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center (REVC) holds inventories and will restart at an unspecified future date. Ford reassigned employees to the Dearborn Truck Plant to support a third shift for gas and hybrid F-150 production. Ford plans a next-generation Lightning configured as an extended-range electric vehicle (EREV).
