Lucy Bronze expressed confidence in Chelsea's potential for growth in the upcoming season under coach Sonia Bompastor, following their sixth consecutive Women's Super League (WSL) title. Their 1-0 win over Manchester United secured the title with two games left, and they aim for an unbeaten season. Despite their domestic success, including a League Cup win, Chelsea's UEFA Champions League ambitions fell short this year. Bronze acknowledged the challenges of maintaining focus across competitions but believes the team can improve and achieve more next season.
We have had an up and down season, although the results probably don't show that. It was difficult for Sonia to come in and build something while not trying to take away from the legacy that Chelsea has always had. We have had new signings come in too. Next season we can push on and improve a lot more.
The second half of the season we have not been at our best. Sonia has done well so far but she wants a lot more from us. I think we can give it her.
Chelsea have suffered semi-final exits at the hands of Barcelona in three straight Champions League campaigns, also losing to them in the 2021 final under Emma Hayes.
It's hard to focus on so many competitions. We have always said that. We have done fantastically well to keep ourselves in all of them close to the end.
