"The Tribune's Brad Biggs reports the Chicago Bears are hiring Eric Studesville as their new running backs coach. Studesville, along with Duce Staley, was one of the known candidates for the job. It appears that the search to replace Eric Bieniemy was a short one, as the Bears land on Studesville about 10 days after it was first reported to be someone to keep an eye on for this gig."
"Ben Johnson made it a point to not hire his friends in Year 1 as a head coach. Johnson made it clear how much he valued different perspectives and personalities. And while I don't think Johnson will hire his buddies for the sake of familiarity, I do think we will see him tap into his past as we move forward with his tenure as Bears head coach."
"With that being said, Eric Studesville has a connection with the NFL Coach of the Year finalist that dates back to their time in Miami. Studesville was the Dolphins run game coordinator from 2017-20, meaning that he spent two seasons coaching alongside Johnson when he was an assistant wide receivers coach (2017) and wide receivers coach (2020)."
Eric Studesville is being hired as the Chicago Bears’ running backs coach roughly 10 days after first emerging as a candidate to replace Eric Bieniemy. The hire is not yet official but appears likely. Studesville brings extensive NFL coaching experience across multiple teams, including Chicago (1997–2000), New York Giants (2001–03), Buffalo Bills (2004–09), Denver Broncos (2010–2017) and Miami Dolphins (2018–2025). Roles have included running backs coach, run game coordinator, co-offensive coordinator and associate head coach, with an interim head coaching stint in 2010. Studesville has worked for numerous NFL head coaches and shares a Miami-era connection with Ben Johnson.
