In his first season leading the Chicago Fire, Gregg Berhalter expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress following a 7-1 victory over D.C. United. Despite this win, the Fire remains 10th in the Eastern Conference with 25 points from 16 games. After a recent slump, they've secured consecutive victories, demonstrating offensive strength. Berhalter emphasized the necessity for continuous improvement and maintaining a strong work ethic during training, suggesting that the current roster still requires enhancements for greater success in the standings ahead.
I think a better way to look at this is that we just want to keep getting better. We know we are not there yet.
But we need to keep working. I think that the group has not surprised me, but they are a really good group to work with because of the effort they put in during training.
