Seiya Suzuki to Undergo MRI on Knee Following Doctor's Exam -
"The outfielder hurt his right knee while sliding into second base on an attempted steal in the 1st inning of Japan's quarterfinal loss to Venezuela in the WBC, but was able to walk off under his own power. He did not undergo imaging in Miami before returning to Mesa, where the Cubs medical staff examined him."
"Suzuki was examined by a team doctor and will now have an MRI on his knee to determine the extent of the injury. It certainly didn't appear as though there was any mechanism for serious damage, but looks can be deceiving."
Seiya Suzuki arrived at Cubs spring training camp walking gingerly after injuring his right knee while attempting to steal second base during Japan's WBC quarterfinal loss to Venezuela. He was able to walk off the field under his own power and did not receive imaging in Miami. Upon returning to Mesa, the Cubs medical staff examined him and scheduled an MRI to assess the injury's extent. While the mechanism of injury did not appear to cause serious damage, the team is taking a cautious approach to determine the full scope of the knee injury.
