Cowboys expected to place franchise tag on WR George Pickens " Inside The Star
"It has been a very fast start to the offseason for the Dallas Cowboys for the first time in a long time. It started with hiring Christian Parker and the rest of his staff, and now it continues with news that Dallas are expected to place the franchise tag on George Pickens, a move that I thought would happen at least for the time being."
"The projected cost of the one-year, fully guaranteed franchise tag for Pickens will be roughly $28 million. Now remember Pickens has to sign the deal to play on it for one full year. If he does not sign it, he doesn't play, but my guess is that they will try and make sure a long-term type deal does get done."
Offseason activity for the Dallas Cowboys accelerated with the hiring of Christian Parker and his staff, followed by plans to place the franchise tag on wide receiver George Pickens. The franchise tag would be a one-year, fully guaranteed deal projected at roughly $28 million and must be signed by Pickens for him to play under it. The tag can be applied in late February and will act as a placeholder while the team seeks a long-term contract. Pickens posted a career year with 90 receptions for 1,409 yards and nine touchdowns. Shared agency with Micah Parsons raises concern, and Spotrac projects a four-year, $122,425,436 deal averaging $30 million per year.
