Micah Parsons: "I Was Really About To" Join The Eagles
"To be honest with you, bro, it was very close."
"Eagles - before [trade deadline acquisition] Jaelan Phillips, before all of them, it was me."
"I was really about to come [to Philadelphia], but there was one person that I had to play with that if he was gone I did not want to be there, and that was Jalen Carter."
"[The Cowboys] wanted a d-tackle and they wanted to trade me plus some picks. I'm coming to play next to JC. Sorry, Cowboys fans ... It really almost happened."
The Cowboys' relationship with Micah Parsons unraveled last offseason, prompting Dallas to trade him elsewhere rather than to a division rival. The Green Bay Packers acquired Parsons and signed him to a four-year, $188 million extension. The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly offered the most attractive trade package, including two first-round picks, a third-rounder, a fifth-rounder, and other assets. Parsons revealed he very nearly went to Philadelphia but insisted on playing alongside defensive tackle Jalen Carter, saying he would not have wanted to join if Carter was not part of the team. Dallas sought a defensive tackle in any Parsons swap.
