The Cowboys lost key depth in free agency last week " Inside The Star
"It was reported since the NFL combine that Osa did not like his new role on the defense, with Parker taking over as the defensive coordinator, and Osa was a great team leader and took a pay cut last season to stay with Dallas and the front office traded him, not a huge fan of that."
"In some ways, trading Thomas was more surprising than trading Odighizuwa. You can understand offloading a player who isn't a fit in a new system, but trading Thomas took a hit on the defensive line."
During free agency week, the Dallas Cowboys lost five players despite initially appearing to retain their roster. The team traded defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa to the San Francisco 49ers for a 2026 third-round pick after reports indicated he was dissatisfied with his new defensive role under coordinator Parker. On the same day, the Cowboys traded depth defensive lineman Solomon Thomas to the Tennessee Titans in a Day 3 pick swap, exchanging picks 218 and 225. Additionally, secondary player Juanyeh Thomas signed a one-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts. These departures occurred despite the Cowboys making several defensive additions including edge rusher Rashan Gary, safeties Jalen Thompson and P.J. Locke, cornerback Cobie Durant, and defensive tackle Otito Ogbonnia.
