"After the dust settled on Sunday's games, the Dallas Cowboys are left with just one path to the playoffs. Win the NFC East. Anything less won't get it done. Dallas cannot catch any of the teams currently in the three wildcard slots. At best, they could tie Green Bay, currently in the final wildcard slot, at 9-7-1. But the Packers will have the tie-breaker over the Cowboys by virtue of the better record against NFC opponents."
"To win the division, assuming Dallas wins out and finishes 9-7-1, the Philadelphia Eagles will need to lose all three of their remaining games. The Eagles have two games against the struggling Washington Commanders. Getting Washington to beat the Eagles once is a hard ask. Twice might be more of a miracle than anyone should be asking for, even assuming the Bills win their game against Philadelphia."
Only the NFC East title offers the Dallas Cowboys a playoff berth; wildcard access is unattainable under current standings. The Cowboys could at best tie Green Bay at 9-7-1, but Green Bay holds the NFC record tiebreaker. If Detroit or Carolina upset Green Bay, those teams would need 10 wins, still eliminating Dallas's wildcard chances. For Dallas to win the division, Philadelphia must lose all three remaining games, including two against Washington — an unlikely outcome. Brandon Aubrey made four of six field goals and missed two long attempts. Dallas's defense allowed J.J. McCarthy easy plays, continuing a difficult season.
