KÖNIGSWINTER is a light sculpture created by designer Daniel Heilig using corrugated fiberglass panels salvaged from an abandoned hillside hut near Königswinter in western Germany. The panels, exposed to outdoor conditions for approximately fifty years, were selected for their structural integrity, translucency, and depth. Prolonged exposure to sun, frost, and rainfall created amber tones, visible fiber networks, and subtle density variations. The panels are set within custom-crafted wooden frames that provide structural clarity while preserving the material's character. LED elements positioned behind each panel, combined with light-diffusing layers, emphasize the fiberglass as material. The series is produced in strictly limited edition due to the finite number of viable reclaimed panels.
