Texas is set to receive $3.3 billion in the BEAD program for rural broadband. The Benefit of the Bargain round has been closed with 70 entities applying for funding. An analysis indicated that 3,294 of the 3,352 eligible project area units (PAUs) received applications. For PAUs without applications, the state will negotiate with nearby applicants. Robinson's analysis looked at the number of eligible locations for which each of the 70 entities had submitted applications.
For PAUs that didn't receive applications, the state will 'look at applicants that are nearby' to negotiate with the applicant about serving those areas.
