The popular podcast hosts Will Arnett, Sean Hayes, and Jason Bateman have launched SmartLess Mobile, a new mobile-service provider targeting consumers who primarily use Wi-Fi. SmartLess Mobile aims to provide cost-effective plans that reflect actual usage needs, contrasting with typical unlimited-data plans. The hosts emphasize the logical connection between their podcast's audience and the new venture, although the announcement is critiqued as part of a saturation of celebrity-endorsed products. The venture appears to capitalize on a growing market for budget wireless services, similar to the success of ventures like Ryan Reynolds' Mint Mobile.
"If your phone bill knew how often you're on Wi-Fi, it would be embarrassed," Hayes says.
"extending the SmartLess brand into mobile is a logical next step," Bateman points out.
