"If the first [Dune] was more of a contemplation, like a movie of a boy exploring a new world, and the second one being a war movie, this one is a thriller. It's a more action-packed and more tense film, more muscular than the two others, I will say."
"It follows Paul Atreides, heir to unimaginable power, as he brings to fruition the ancient scheme to create a superbeing ruler among men, not in the heavens."
Dune: Part Three completes Warner Bros' trilogy adaptation of Frank Herbert's novels, releasing December 18. Denis Villeneuve returns as director, co-writing with Brian K. Vaughan, adapting the 1969 novel Dune Messiah. Set 17 years after the previous film, the story follows Paul Atreides as he fulfills an ancient scheme to create a superbeing ruler. Timothée Chalamet reprises his lead role, joined by returning cast members Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Florence Pugh, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Charlotte Rampling. New additions include Isaach de Bankolé and Robert Pattinson. Villeneuve describes the film as a thriller, more action-packed and muscular than its predecessors, shifting from contemplation and war themes to heightened tension and intensity.
