Werner Herzog says he improvised his iconic 'Parks and Rec' cameo: 'People peed their pants'

"When we were done shooting, I said to the team, 'I would like to add something to the text. Can I speak right into the camera?' And I said straight to the audience: 'I've lived in this home for 47 years, but I'm selling it now because I want to move to Orlando, Florida, to be close to Disney World.' People peed their pants."

Werner Herzog, an acclaimed filmmaker and author, has made several television appearances including voice work on The Simpsons and a role in The Mandalorian. His 2015 Parks and Recreation cameo as eccentric homeowner Keg Jeggings remains one of his favorites because the show's creators welcomed his spontaneous contributions. In the season seven premiere episode, Herzog's character shows April and Andy a bizarre house featuring three bomb shelters, a fireman's pole, and a staircase to nowhere, claiming it's haunted. Herzog improvised an additional line directly addressing the audience, stating he lived in the home for 47 years but was selling it to move to Orlando, Florida to be near Disney World. This ad-libbed moment generated significant audience laughter.
