A brush fire known as the Bethany fire broke out in Burbank on Tuesday, leading to emergency evacuations in surrounding neighborhoods. The fire was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m. and had expanded to between 8 and 10 acres by 4:30 p.m. Over 100 homes above Bel Aire Drive and west of Walnut Avenue were evacuated, with additional warnings for areas north of Kenneth Boulevard. The city opened an evacuation center, and all hiking trails in the surrounding hills were closed as fire officials continued to assess the situation and work to contain the blaze.
