"On the night of August 7, one of the longest-serving members of the current AC Transit Board of Directors, H.E. Christian Peeples, died in his sleep at his home at the age of 78. The loss saddened friends, colleagues, and transit advocates who had worked with him throughout his 28-year tenure on the board. Beyond his longtime role on AC Transit's board, Peeples served on the Oakland Ethics Commission, the Transportation Research Board,"
"He grew up in San Francisco's Sunset District, at 24th Avenue and Pacheco Street. He attended Archbishop Reardon High School in Balboa Park, where he learned French to appease his French mother. After getting his bachelor's degree at UC Santa Cruz, Peeples worked as a brewer for five years. Peeples then attended law school at UC Hastings and began a legal career, first representing business franchises such as McDonald's and Midas, and then working for a member of the city council."
