Exclusive first look at Berkeley's new Sightglass cafe
""It's so exciting. There have been many people who have asked us to look at new locations, and we want to just be really intentional. The mission behind this, the community, each one of our cafes is really unique, but there's something that's similar in every cafe, and we're trying to find what those unique pieces are, because we are looking to continue to grow.""
"The new cafe is on the ground floor of UC Berkeley's Helen Diller Anchor House at 2169 University Ave., where a Shake Shack opened last week and a Palmetto Super Foods is also slated to open."
Sightglass Coffee will open a new cafe in the East Bay on May 7, located across from UC Berkeley. This 1700-square-foot space is the first new location since 2020 and the first in the Bay Area since 2017. The cafe will feature ample seating and power outlets, catering to the student population. CEO Sharon Healy expressed excitement about the expansion, emphasizing the importance of community and the unique aspects of each cafe. The new location is part of a larger development that includes other businesses.
