Beloved Berkeley staple Rick & Ann's is closing up shop

After more than 30 years of operations, Rick & Ann's will permanently close its doors on August 30. The popular brunch spot, known for orange rice flour pancakes and cheesy potato pancakes, has been a staple in Berkeley since 1989. Owner Ann Lauer chose not to renew the lease with retirement approaching. She expressed gratitude for the community and the relationships developed over the years. Despite the closure, Lauer's catering business, Ann's Catering, will continue, sustaining a part of the restaurant's legacy.
