Pleasanton's Main Street Brewery to serve its final beer on Sunday
"Serving you and your families has been one of the greatest joys, the owners wrote on a goodbye Facebook post. We've shared meals, music, laughter, and stories. Along the way, we've made everlasting friendships, people we will always remember, and times that we will never forget. The downtown pub and restaurant first opened in 1996 and has been serving house-brewed beer and pub fare, among other offerings."
"Local bands have been playing live music there regularly as well, with many of the bands commenting on the Facebook post that they got their start at Main Street Brewery. More than 100 people commented to share their memories and express gratitude for what the pub meant to them. The pub will host its final football Sunday this weekend and close things out with a live performance by Cocktail Monkeys at 4 p.m."
Pleasanton's Main Street Brewery will close on Sunday, Sept. 21, after nearly 30 years in business. Owners Sharon and Matt Billings said they are moving on to the next chapter of their lives and plan to take vacations, spend more time with family, and pursue leisure activities. The downtown pub opened in 1996 and served house-brewed beer, pub fare, and regular live music from local bands. Many bands and more than 100 patrons posted memories and gratitude on social media. The owners said the closing is not due to financial problems. The final weekend will include a last football Sunday and a closing performance by Cocktail Monkeys.
