A fence erected near a parking area by convicted felon Luke Brugnara blocked public access to Thornton State Beach in Daly City. City or county crews are dismantling the fence today after it restricted access for about a month. The barrier included a handwritten threat of death warning trespassers. Brugnara claims ownership after a reported purchase deal and appears to be living in an RV on the site with a 26-year-old companion. Reporting indicates a complex ownership structure with multiple owners and suggests Brugnara may own little or none of the land. Brugnara previously served time for a federal fraud case and was arrested last month for an alleged threat.
