Northeastern Brazil, particularly Pernambuco and Paraiba states, has experienced severe rain leading to at least six deaths and thousands displaced. Recife and Olinda in Pernambuco reported flooding and landslides, with 1,500 people displaced. In Paraiba, Joao Pessoa and Campina Grande were heavily affected, also resulting in two fatalities and 1,500 displacements. The National Center for Risk and Disaster Management issued 22 emergency alerts and raised the operational level to maximum alert. President Lula da Silva is coordinating support efforts as the government monitors the situation.
