The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for San Mateo County at 2:01 a.m., effective until 5:15 a.m. Doppler radar showed heavy rain with up to 0.7 inches recorded and flash flooding ongoing or expected shortly. Life‑threatening flooding threatens creeks, streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses across numerous communities including San Mateo, Redwood City, Palo Alto, Menlo Park and Foster City. Motorists are urged to turn around and avoid driving on flooded roads because most flood deaths occur in vehicles, and to be especially cautious at night. Sandbag locations and instructions and guidance on enabling Wireless Emergency Alerts and county alert signups are provided.
