Ukrainian forces are confronting a fresh Russian attack and attempting to prevent a breakthrough in the northeastern Sumy border region. Russian drone strikes frequently target the Sumy area. Diplomatic delegations remained in Miami to pursue Washington's proposed peace plan, and Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev held what were described as constructive talks with US diplomats. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would seek consultations with European partners following the Miami discussions and called elements of the US plan constructive. The Kremlin expressed skepticism that Ukrainian or European changes would improve the US peace deal while diplomats continue negotiations.
