Amazon launches its first satellites to rival Starlink
Briefly

Amazon's Project Kuiper broadband internet constellation has begun its rollout with the successful launch of 27 satellites aboard a ULA rocket. This marks the beginning of a series of 80 planned launches to deploy a total of 3,236 satellites in low-Earth orbit, aiming to provide high-speed internet and compete against SpaceX's Starlink. The launch, led by Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, took place after a weather-related delay and aligns with the FCC's requirement to deploy a significant number of satellites by mid-2026.
While this is the first step in a much longer journey to launch the rest of our low Earth orbit constellation, it represents an incredible amount of invention and hard work, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said on X.
This launch marks the first step towards the future of our partnership and increased launch cadence, ULA CEO Tory Bruno said in a post-launch statement.
