Decathlon doubles warehouse output with Exotec robots across seven European sites | TNW
"At its warehouse in Setúbal, Portugal, Decathlon said the facility now prepares 114,000 orders per day, double the 57,000 it managed before automation."
"Romain Moulin, Exotec's cofounder and chief executive, said the core advantage is not speed alone but density, allowing for reduced warehouse footprints."
"With Skypods able to climb vertically, Exotec claims it can reduce the average warehouse footprint from about 18,000 square metres to around."
Decathlon has automated seven European warehouses with Exotec robots, resulting in substantial productivity improvements. In Setúbal, Portugal, order preparation doubled from 57,000 to 114,000 daily. A French warehouse increased replenishment capacity from 37 to 73 stores. In Northampton, England, picker walking distance decreased from over 10 kilometers to less than one, and workplace incidents halved. Exotec's Skypod robots, which can climb vertically, allow for reduced warehouse footprints, challenging the need for larger facilities as order volumes increase.
