Dr. Suchismita "Tia" Paul highlights that many young people neglect proper skincare, particularly sunscreen application and moisturization. She notes that while awareness of sun protection is rising, many still disregard vital practices that prevent aging, leading to long-term skin issues. Immediate results from skincare routines aren't common; consistency over time is essential. Common mistakes include applying insufficient sunscreen and neglecting areas like the neck and hands, which are prone to sun damage. Paul emphasizes that proactive skincare at a younger age can prevent future skin problems and the desire for extensive procedures later in life.
"The ideal amount is at least a two-finger length amount of sunscreen for your entire face," she said.
"I start seeing people in their 40s and 50s that start coming in. They want all these procedures done - laser, microneedling -but it's important to start with skincare in those areas at an earlier age."
