Chanel's Rouge Noir nail polish was created by makeup artist Heidi Morawetz in 1994, blending black and red to achieve a perfect balance of rebellion and conformity. Launched as 'Vamp' in 1995, the shade became a cultural phenomenon, selling out immediately and creating months-long waiting lists. The lacquer became iconic through its association with 1990s pop culture, notably worn by Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction and Madonna in Take a Bow. Three decades later, Rouge Noir maintains a devoted following despite the modern preference for gel manicures. To commemorate its 30th anniversary, Chanel collaborated with makeup artist Ammy Drammeh to create a limited-edition collection for nails, lips, and skin. Drammeh's collection features berry tones, delicate pinks, and nudes, each carefully selected to honor Rouge Noir's legacy while revealing previously undiscovered dimensions within the original shade.
