Thomas Hanisch Fall/Winter 2026 Exos
"Exos redefines protection not solely as a retreat but as a proactive position. The collection's silhouettes, materials, and surfaces function as a visual armour that envelops and strengthens the wearer while simultaneously enhancing visibility. A foundation of recycled leather from secondhand coats and jackets anchors the collection, complemented by faux fur that introduces striking tactile contrasts. Futuristic 3D-printed accessories reference shield-like forms, while recycled plastic successfully creates an illusion of feathers."
"After a decade-long hiatus, Hanisch draws inspiration from the intricate beauty of nature and the animal kingdom, focusing on their protective mechanisms, such as horns, feathers, shells, and organic textures. This exploration is particularly resonant for Hanisch as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, where concepts of protection serve as an everyday consideration. Thomas Hanisch returned to the runway at Berlin Fashion Week with Exos after a decade-long hiatus. Exos draws on the intricate beauty of nature and animal protective mechanisms—horns, feathers, shells, and organic textures—and links protection to LGBTQ+ lived experience. Protection is framed as a proactive position and visual armour that both strengthens the wearer and enhances visibility. The collection is anchored by recycled leather from secondhand coats and jackets, contrasted with faux fur, futuristic 3D-printed accessories, and recycled plastic created to resemble feathers. Opulent silhouettes reference 17th- and 18th-century sartorial elements while manipulated volume deforms the body to challenge conventional beauty and proportion, presenting protection and visual distinction as empowerment. The Thomas Hanisch label was founded in 2013 after graduation from ESMOD Berlin and garnered early attention with notable shows at Berlin Fashion Week.
