Michael Chiklis had not played organized football since his 1980 senior year at Andover High. He participated in casual and charity games, including tag football with Tom Brady. The true story of Mike Flynt inspired a film in which Flynt, expelled his senior year, rediscovered a year of eligibility and tried out for his college team at age 59. Chiklis, also 59 during filming, suited up to portray Flynt and sought Brady's encouragement. Chiklis is a Lowell native, former Andover High weakside linebacker and fullback, and a 1985 Boston University alumnus with ongoing ties to Boston.
