"unfortunately [Love's] not able to make it to tonight's screening,"
"We're really gutted that Courtney couldn't make it tonight to celebrate this moment with us all,"
"But we just wanted to say it's been the greatest of privileges to be invited into Courtney's personal space to make such an intimate, honest film with someone we have so much love for,"
"trusting us to - alongside her - tell her story and allowing us to experience the last three years."
Courtney Love, 62, did not attend the Sundance premiere of her documentary Antiheroine. The film traces the beginnings of her relationship with Kurt Cobain and her creative drive to become an influential and divisive rock star. Festival director Eugene Hernandez announced Love's absence at the screening. Co-director Edward Lovelace described the film as "so unfiltered, so truthful," and thanked Love for inviting the filmmakers into her personal space and for trusting them to tell her story over the last three years. Love rose to prominence with Hole and earned a Golden Globe nomination for The People vs. Larry Flynt.
