Steven Soderbergh isn't surprised David Fincher is making a 'Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood' sequel - he's just shocked Quentin Tarantino agreed
Briefly

David Fincher and Brad Pitt are collaborating on a sequel to Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood" after Tarantino, who wrote the script, agreed to let them continue the story of Cliff Booth. This announcement was initially met with skepticism due to its timing on April Fools' Day. Director Steven Soderbergh, a close friend of both Fincher and Pitt, confirmed the authenticity, noting that it was surprising for Tarantino to be so agreeable to let them proceed with the sequel, as he is known to prefer original stories over sequels.
"I think they're always on the lookout for something to do together," Soderbergh told Business Insider, referring to Fincher and Pitt. "So this was, it sounds like, an unusual set of circumstances where Quentin decided he didn't want to do it and Brad asked him, 'Can I show it to David?' and he said sure, and David read it and said, 'Let's do it.'"
Soderbergh admits there is one aspect of the news that did shock him. "What's surprising is Quentin's agreeability," he said.
