A 17-member jury for the Sundance Film Festival brings an unusually high number of filmmaker alumni, including A.V. Rockwell, Janicza Bravo, Bao Nguyen, Azazel Jacobs, Jennie Livingston, Nisha Ganatra, and So Yong Kim. Festival and programming alumni John Cooper and Trevor Groth will return to Park City to judge the forward-thinking NEXT section. The jury will select winners to be announced during the Awards Ceremony at The Ray Theatre on Friday, January 30. A separate Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize jury, composed of film and science professionals such as Sophie Barthes, Dr. Heather Berlin, Dr. Andrea Ghez, Ari Handel, and Nicole Perlman, deliberated ahead of the Festival and awarded the Sloan prize to In the Blink of a Eye director Andrew Stanton and screenwriter Colby Day. The Sloan Prize honors outstanding features that focus on science or technology or depict scientists, engineers, or mathematicians as major characters.
