"Summersett went on to say that she expects the movie to feature "a strong Zelda" and a "powerful lead character in Zelda." As for Link, Summersett said she has "no idea" what the filmmakers are going to do with him. "Is he going to speak? They certainly haven't alluded to the fact that he does, yet," she said."
"Is the game going to adapt the story of any game in particular like some film adaptations do? Or take more of the approach that The Super Mario Bros. Movie did with how it doesn't adapt any specific game but instead carries forward the same characters, theme, and tone of the games?"
"The Legend of Zelda movie is in production at Sony Pictures, with Nintendo producing as well. Critically, Nintendo is funding more than 50% of the production, which gives the company leverage and the ability to make a ton of money if it succeeds."
Patricia Summersett, voice of Zelda in the game series, commented on the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie despite not being involved. She expressed curiosity about the film's direction and whether it will adapt a specific game or follow The Super Mario Bros. Movie's approach of maintaining characters and tone without adapting one particular title. Summersett expects the film to feature a strong, powerful Zelda character. She remains uncertain about Link's portrayal, particularly whether he will speak. Bo Bragason plays Zelda and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth plays Link. The film is currently in production in New Zealand at Sony Pictures with Nintendo producing and funding over 50% of the budget. Shigeru Miyamoto and Marvel veteran Avi Arad serve as producers. After theatrical release, the movie will become exclusive to Netflix.
