Taco Bell brought back 5 discontinued items for its new Y2K menu. I ranked them from worst to best.
"But haven't you heard? Y2K is hot again, and Taco Bell is celebrating with a new menu full of old fan favorites. Now available nationwide for a limited time, the menu includes the Chili Cheese and 7-Layer burritos, the Double Decker and Cool Ranch Doritos Locos tacos, and the beloved Caramel Apple Empanada. I'm just thankful I didn't have to dust off my low-rise jeans to enjoy Taco Bell's new Y2K menu. Here are all five items, ranked from my least to most favorite."
"My first note after biting into this taco was "very bean heavy." Since the beans are in the tortilla wrapped around the taco, it's the first flavor you hit. But as I took a few more bites, I was surprised that the beans continued overpowering every other flavor. I couldn't taste the beef and thought the taco really needed some sauce and sour cream to diversify the flavor."
Y2K nostalgia returned with five Taco Bell items available nationwide for a limited time: the Chili Cheese and 7-Layer burritos, Double Decker and Cool Ranch Doritos Locos tacos, and the Caramel Apple Empanada. The Double Decker Taco delivers crunch but is dominated by beans, which mask beef and leave a need for sauce and sour cream. The 7-Layer Burrito is sizable and relatively pricey but tastes dry and bean-forward, benefitting from mild hot sauce or additional creamy elements. The Double Decker previously lost a fan vote to the Enchirito, suggesting mixed superfans' preferences.
