A massive blaze in the southern region of Aude, France, has been brought under control after burning over 17,000 hectares. The fire resulted in one death and injured 13 individuals. Though contained, approximately 2,000 firefighters remain on duty as the blaze has not yet been declared extinguished. The fire started in Ribaute, destroying 36 homes and damaging an additional 20 while affecting 16 communities. Due to the ongoing heatwave, access to the burnt areas has been prohibited until at least Sunday, and 1,500 households were without power.
