Odile de Vasselot, Teenage Aristocrat in the French Resistance, Dies at 103
Briefly

Odile de Vasselot, a notable French Resistance figure during World War II, died on April 21 at the age of 103 in Paris. She became involved in the resistance after hearing Charles de Gaulle's appeal to oppose Nazi invaders. Initially performing modest acts of defiance, such as erasing Nazi propaganda, she progressed to risking her life on nighttime missions delivering messages and escorting Allied airmen. Recognized by the Order of the Liberation for her heroism, her dedication and bravery continued to inspire others, receiving recognition from President Emmanuel Macron at her passing.
One had to do something, she said in an interview many years later. One never has the right to just sit there and do nothing.
At her death, President Emmanuel Macron of France saluted a great lady who honorably answered all the appeals, throughout her life, and did so with a courage that can only edify us.
