"Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader was a big hit for developer Owlcat Games, and the studio is planning to extend its time in that grimdark universe thatwith its next game, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. Like Rogue Trader, this will be a CRPG game, but it won't be out for a while yet. In the meantime, you can prepare for it by dressing up your desktop or mobile device with some high-resolution wallpapers that shows off the decaying worlds players will explore."

"As an Inquisitor, players will have to investigate a crumbling empire rotting from within and purge it of any heretical threats lurking in the shadows. Dark Heresy features turn-based combat, and Owlcat says that "choices that carry grave consequences" will occur during your adventure. The gameplay and ideas introduced in Rogue Trader have also been greatly expanded in this follow-up, and the game will eventually be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S."

"It's not the only Warhammer 40K game in development, as Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 will arrive in 2026, the Adeptus Mechanicus return in Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus 2, and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 will continue the story of Captain Titus. The threequel is still in the early stages of development, but developer Saber Interactive does have big plans for Space Marine 2 as it enters its second year of duty."

Owlcat Games is developing Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy as a follow-up CRPG to Rogue Trader, centered on playing an Inquisitor who investigates a crumbling empire and purges heretical threats. The game uses turn-based combat and emphasizes choices with grave consequences. High-resolution desktop and mobile wallpapers featuring decaying worlds and character mugshots are available to promote the setting. Dark Heresy expands mechanics and concepts from Rogue Trader and is planned for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Multiple other Warhammer 40K titles are in development, including Boltgun 2, Mechanicus 2, and Space Marine 3.
