Slay the Spire 2 features numerous hidden secrets and unlockables discovered through gameplay. A recently uncovered secret involves triggering a hidden mini-boss fight against the Fake Merchant by using a Foul Potion on them. Both the Foul Potion and Fake Merchant appear in random event nodes, with the Potion Courier Event available from Act 2 onwards and the Fake Merchant only in Act 3. Players must retain a Foul Potion for an extended period to attempt this encounter. The resulting fight is relatively easy, yielding 300 gold plus the Merchant's fake relics worth approximately 300 gold, creating a net gain of 500 gold compared to trading a Foul Potion to the real Merchant for 100 gold. This method is the only way to obtain the useless but collectible Merchant's Rug??? relic.
