Demi Vollering of FDJ-Suez finished second overall in the Tour de Suisse Women, affected by fatigue and potential health issues throughout the race. Despite strong efforts, particularly in a breakaway with GC winner Marlen Reusser on stage 1, Vollering struggled by the final stage in her hometown. She expressed exhaustion and acknowledged her teammate's difficulties as well. Vollering suggested that over-racing may have led to her condition, as she looked forward to resting from the grueling schedule of recent weeks, which included multiple significant races.
I'm just really empty and I'm looking forward to jumping in the lake, to go home, to rest a bit, because I raced a lot the last weeks.
I knew it was coming, I just couldn't follow. Marlen was really strong today.
