Climate activists demanded a phase-out of gas and continued opposition to fossil fuels after Economy and Energy Minister Katherina Reiche proposed building new gas plants and phasing out certain renewable subsidies to boost energy security. Around 3,000 people gathered in Berlin's Invalidenpark under the motto "#ExitGasEnterFuture" in a Fridays for Future demonstration. Separate marches both for and against liberal abortion laws took place in Berlin and Cologne. The 190th Oktoberfest opened in Munich.
