At Least 400 Dead In Pakistani Air Strike On Kabul Hospital, Afghan Taliban Says

"The Pakistani military regime carried out an air strike at approximately 9 p.m. [local time, on March 16] on the Omid Addiction Treatment Hospital, a 2,000-bed facility dedicated to the treatment of drug addiction, adding that large sections of the hospital have been destroyed."

"Technical support infrastructure and ammunition storage facilities at two locations in Kabul were effectively destroyed. The visible secondary detonations after the strikes clearly indicate the presence of large ammunition depots."

A Pakistani air strike on March 16 hit the Omid Hospital, a 2,000-bed substance-abuse rehabilitation center in Kabul, resulting in at least 400 deaths and 250 injuries according to Afghan Taliban officials. Deputy Taliban spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat reported large sections of the hospital were destroyed and rescue efforts were underway. Pakistan's Information Ministry denied deliberately targeting civilians, claiming the strike destroyed military installations and ammunition storage facilities in Kabul and Nangarhar Province, citing secondary detonations as evidence of military infrastructure. Neither side's claims could be independently verified. The incident significantly escalates tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan amid ongoing cross-border conflicts.
