Creighton Receives $100M Gift for Athletics Facilities
"Fly Together will serve students and student-athletes, but importantly, it will serve the Omaha community itself."
"We are incredibly grateful to the Heider family and the additional donors who are making this moment possible."
"This gift ... benefits everyone. It enhances student life, intramurals, premier club sports and intercollegiate athletics. It also strengthens Creighton's connection to downtown and the broader Omaha community."
Creighton's Fly Together plan will establish and upgrade athletic facilities and outdoor spaces across 12 blocks totaling roughly 700,000 square feet. The project includes a new student fitness center, a pedestrian walkway linking the private Jesuit campus to a downtown business district, and a sports performance center serving student athletes across 22 intercollegiate programs. The plan supports newly added men's and women's ice hockey, golf, and lacrosse. The Heider Family Foundation provided a $100 million gift toward a nearly $300 million campaign intended to enhance student life, intramurals, club sports, and the broader Omaha community.
