Texas A&M University ended its women's and gender studies programs and modified hundreds of courses while cancelling six as part of removing teaching related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. A policy adopted last November prohibits, without campus president approval, teaching that will advocate race or gender ideology or topics related to sexual orientation or gender identity. University leaders framed the changes as protecting academic integrity and restoring public trust. Officials cited the policy and limited student enrollment as reasons for eliminating the program. Supporters of the changes praised the move as a rollback of taxpayer-funded "woke" campus activism, while critics called it political interference.
