Brown University awarded $1.5 million to the Community College of Rhode Island for training early childhood educators and $1.5 million to the apprenticeship nonprofit Building Futures to train construction workers. The university launched a process to award an additional $1.5 million in anchor grants and $200,000 in innovation grants through its Office of Community Engagement. The voluntary settlement with the federal government requires Brown to contribute $50 million to statewide workforce development over the next decade in exchange for restoration of more than $500 million in research funding and resolution of investigations into campus antisemitism complaints. The 2025–26 campus climate student survey reported 85 percent of undergraduates and 76 percent of graduate and medical students feeling a sense of belonging, while certain groups reported harassment and discrimination above 10 percent.
