Two hundred years after Locomotion No. 1's maiden journey, a restored replica will re-enact the original Stockton-to-Darlington run from 26 to 28 September. The replica, first built in 1975 for the 150th anniversary, has been renovated by the International Heritage Railway Consultancy and fully refurbished to meet modern regulations so it can operate on live lines. George Stephenson designed the original steam engine. Steve Davies oversees the restoration and operation and emphasizes the railways' deep social and economic impact.
