A superseding indictment in the Eastern District of New York unsealed charges against Volodymyr Viktorovich Tymoshchuk, also known as deadforz, Boba, msfv, and farnetwork. The indictment alleges he served as an administrator for LockerGoga, MegaCortex, and Nefilim ransomware schemes. Those schemes extorted more than 250 companies across the United States and hundreds more worldwide. In some cases, attacks completely disrupted business operations until encrypted data could be recovered or restored. Targets included blue-chip American companies, health care institutions, and large foreign industrial firms, with threats to leak sensitive data if victims refused to pay. The defendant allegedly deployed new ransomware strains after older ones were decrypted, and international coordination led to the charges and rewards announcement.
