Data including names, emails and home addresses were accessed. Deputy Director Paul Foster, head of the NCA's National Cyber Crime Unit, said: "Today's charges are a key step in what has been a lengthy and complex investigation. "This attack caused significant disruption and millions in losses to TfL, part of the UK's critical national infrastructure.""
Two teenagers have been charged over a large cyber attack that disrupted Transport for London services for three months. The National Crime Agency believes members of the Scattered Spider group carried out the hack. Thalha Jubair, 19, and Owen Flowers, 18, were arrested and charged under the Computer Misuse Act and remanded to appear at Southwark Crown Court. TfL reported 39m of damage and widespread outages of online services and information boards. Around 5,000 customers were notified of possible unauthorised access to bank details; names, emails and home addresses were accessed. Investigations found Flowers allegedly targeted US healthcare networks while on bail.
