Max Muncy's 2025 season began poorly, ranking among the lowest in hitting statistics. As of late April, he had no home runs and a weak batting average. His performance improved dramatically after hitting a home run on April 30 and began wearing prescriptive glasses. Muncy, who has excellent vision, found the glasses evened out his eyesight and contributed to a resurgence at the plate. He attributes his recent success to this subtle change, emphasizing the benefit of alleviating stress on his left eye.
Muncy’s April struggle contrasted sharply with his previous track record, highlighting the pressure to convert struggles into opportunities, and the impact of vision correction on performance.
"The results have been there since I've been wearing them, so it's hard to argue against it. You don't necessarily believe in coincidences when it comes to baseball."
After wearing glasses, Muncy noticed a subtle improvement in his vision, particularly in balancing the performance of his left eye, which led to increased batting performance.
"It's just a subtle difference. I still have really good vision, but the chance to take a little bit of stress off my left eye... has been working."
