Progress has been incremental, with the hand not getting worse but not yet allowing throwing or hitting. Smith caught in the bullpen, but full baseball activities have not resumed. A planned progression of throwing and hitting will not occur through the weekend, and the earliest resumption of those activities is expected in Arizona. Full recovery by October is not guaranteed.
