"It had to be done right," she said, revealing that she "absolutely grilled" the BBC producers behind the show to ensure it was created ethically.
"You could imagine what my life would be like, if I've had such a great relationship with the queer community, then suddenly I make [a] show that's terrible or treated anyone badly."
